Grammar

Please clarify this doubt.

What are the different sentence patterns?

I am quite confused because different websites show various patterns of sentence arrangement.

Also,

How does one arrange the pattern of a dependent clause?

For eg: When I was studying, I heard a noise.

How can we arrange the pattern of the clause underlined above?

Thanks,

Sooris.

Hi, Some of us are familiar with English sentences but not familiar with the technique of patterning sentences. Would you like to offer some patterns, wihth examples of each, so that we can try to help you with comments? Best wishes, Clive

It's easy to be confused because there is not one single standard methodology for analyzing sentence structure.

The dependent clause you show here can be analyzed in basically the same way as an independent clause with the introductory word when.

when [ I was studying ].
