Please check this SOP for a MBA college for grammitical errors?
Hi All, This is my first post in this forum. I need to submit the application for a b-school by tomorrow. Please read this SOP (Statement Of Purpose) to find the grammitical mistakes and suggest me alternate ways for a better sentence construction. I am sorry to make you hurry, but it is urgent for me.
I would like to take this opportunity to discuss my career goal and how a management degree from SIMC will help me in achieving it. My goal is to contribute my skills and ideas in creating an equitable and strife free society as a media entrepreneur. After graduating, I have prepared for Civil Service exams which gave me an exposure to Socio-Economic issues. While working as an IT Support Executive, I have worked with a couple of social welfare organizations. I have learned from my experience that mass media and education can be used as tools to resolve the complex social issues.
We can use various forms of communication from journalism, visual arts, theater, music to promote social justice and integrity in communities around the world. Many of the social and media entrepreneurs are using this technique for a better society. For example, Participant Media is an American film and television production company which finances and produces socially relevant films and documentaries. Few of its films that inspired viewers to advocate for social change are: "An Inconvenient Truth”, about climate change; "Food, Inc", about the dangers of highly processed food; "Waiting for Superman", about the need for educational reform in U.S.A.
Another example is, Latin American Network of Art for Social Transformation, it was founded by 24 artistic, cultural and social organizations in Latin America that for the last twenty years have been developing artistic quality practices - through music, dance, theatre, visual arts - with the objective of installing effective citizenship, consciousness of human rights, multicultural dialogue and social equity.
Another form of media that is rapidly developing is online social media. We can use social media like Facebook, Orkut , YouTube, Picasa, blogs to disseminate information without any cost. I have effectively used social media to inspire individuals to participate in social activities while I am working for NGOs. There are many individuals and organizations using media innovations for betterment of the society. TED (Technology Entertainment and Design), WAVEindia….the list goes on.
I would like to see myself as a media entrepreneur in the next five years to inspire people through entertainment to involve in creating a better society. To shape a great idea into reality, it requires diverse range of skills and intimate knowledge of business. Rapid fragmentation of media due to the rapid changes in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and unpredictability of the way consumers or audience reacting to these changes, the media industry has became more complex and challenging. An MBA degree focused on media management can act as a bridge between my theoretical knowledge and the practical skills that industry requires. An MBA degree from a prominent college like SIMC will definitely equip me with the required knowledge and sharpen my skills to become a successful entrepreneur. I believe that my strong determination and my skills that will be streamlined by SIMC will definitely help me in achieving my goal.
