please check this para and correct the mistakes

I had read that in my state once there were one thousands ponds, they all were interconnected by proper canal system so that in rainy seasons, places with less rainfall would not face shortage of water, but the foreigners destroyed our indegineous technique of water restoration, they converted the ponds into bus station..that's why today one can see maximum water logging at bus stations. (is restoration is write word to use here?)
