Dear Sarah,

Thank you for your letter which arrived few days ago. I’m so happy to hear that you have got the scholarship to come and study at Viet Nam National University in HN for 3 months. I promise you this will be worthy time to be here. You will get to know more about our nation and our country.

About homestay, I think this is a good idea. Homestay is one of the best way to learn about a particular culture. I’ve already found for you a host family, their house is about 500 metters from your university. That’s my friend’s family, her name is Trang and she is a student at VN National University as well. I’m sure that you will learn many things because her family is a typical family in Viet Nam. Don’t worry too much, they are very kind and hospitable. I’ve mentioned this matter with them and they are excited and looking forwards to seeing you. Trang hopes you can help her to improve her English. Will you?

You are so lucky to be in VN in next 3 months. It will be spring here. The weathe are comfortable, not too hot or too cold. You don’t need to bring thick clothes because the temperature is average. I think T-shirts, skirts or some clothes for summer. You should also bring some long clothes in case it rains or the temperature decreases.

The last thing I want to mention is places to visit. During your stay here, I am willing to take you to famous places in our capital like Hoan Kiem lake, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum,...at weekends so that you can spend your spare week after your course on exploring other places which are farther. Ha Long Bay or Ninh Binh are not too far from HN, they have wonderful sceneries. We can discuss more about this when you come here.
