Please check this for me.

Hi teachers, please check this for me. Is it natural English? Would you write it differently? Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I walked up to the counter where sandwiches, pizza slices, pastries etc. were showcased. I looked at the selection for a long time, then decided on a chicken salad.

It's good informal English, except "showcase" is a bit grand for your meaning. The punctuation is wrong: I walked up to the glass case full of sandwiches, pizza slices, pastries, etc. I looked at the selection for a long time, then decided on a chicken salad.
