Topic: Some people believe that every human can create art. Other people think that art can only be created by people with special talents. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

For ages, the ‘nurture or nature’ debate in art creation has always been a topic of interest. One school of thought holds that only people, blessed with artistic gifts, are able to generate art. While others state that everyone can be artists, irrespective of their backgrounds or abilities. Both viewpoints are justifiable, but I personally contend that creating art requires a combination of talent and training.

On the one hand, there is evidence successful artists are endowed with artistic gifts such as drawing, painting and composing, from an early age. A surge in children’s versions of talent television shows has allowed a significant number of prodigies to be discovered. To the importance of inborn talents, some artistic qualities can not just be cultivated by hours of practicing. Take drawing as an instance, elements of composition, color, space and movement are handled with greater sensitivity by visually gifted individuals.

On the other hand, it is argued that art itself has no limitation and can be produced by anyone. Without the need for special gifts, a person’s full potential in artistic fields can be achieved by intense training and a heart of passion. Had it not been the case, there would be no such things as Art classes or music institutes where teachers instruct students to paint or to play instruments. Furthermore, plenty of people consider the creative process to be their personal hobbies and by that means, they do not expect anyone to recognize them as professional artists.

From my perspective, anyone can be an artist. The definition of art is malleable, as it is in the eye of the viewer. However, most renowned artists have attributed their success to both sufficient practice and innate talents. In conclusion, I am deeply convinced that creating masterpieces of art is feasible for whoever has a considerable passion and strong determination.
