Please check this essay for me (IELTS Task 2)

Topic: To meet the growing needs of food for the increasing population, country should make use of genetically engineered foods. However, some people believe that GM foods are not only unhealthy but affect the nature too. Do you agree or disagree about this?

Here is my essay:

In a recent period, according to the development of food demands, gene modified organisms (GMO) foods are created by scientists to serve people. However, several individuals think that this kind of products are not healthy and it impacts negatively on humans. From my point of view, I believe genetically engineered foods have both merits and demerits.

On the one hand, GMOs products regularly have better qualities not only taste but also their tolerance with diseases. New foods provide much nutrients and make the taste more appetizing. Moreover, with higher tolerane for weather, these items can resistance diseases and enhance their performance. Another benefit is that GMOs food improve profits for farmers because of some reasons. Firstly, there are more products which can harvested in less lnad, thus farmers can collect more foods. Secondly, this kind of products have shorter period to harvest than original seeds, then people can increase more seasons each year. Finally, because of better torlerance for pests or diseases, GMOs products do not need to add pesticides, that results in improving the caculative soil. These items not only have high performance but also friendly with environment.

On the other hand, genetically engineered foods bring some drawbacks for humans. This kind of products can be caused of some potential allergy. Someone who is sensitive with strange ingredients can be met a problem belonged to allergy. Besides, some cancers could be result of eating GMOs products. Several experiments on rat showed that mouses which were fed by gene modified organisms foods have higher rate of catching cancers than the ones did not consume this kind of items.

To sum up, genetically engineered items are existed to serve people demands. Although it brings some disadvantages, I believe that positive effects are outweigh negative influences.
