A man, John, (who's just been left by his wife who's taken their four kids with her) wants his three friends to go on a road trip with him. One of the friends hesitates. The other two pull him aside:

Friend 1: What the hell are you doing? He's our friend. We got to be there for him.

Friend 2: I am. I just can't be gone for a week. I mean, I have a family.

Friend 3: So did John.

Hi. Is this dialog grammatically correct and natural (in particular the two underscored lines)?
