Hi teachers!

Please tell me if the following sentences are correct.

1.It was Kyoto where he wrote the poem.

2. It was in Kyoto where he wrote the poem.

3.It was in Kyoto that he wrote the poem.

Also...

1.It was yesterday when he visited her.

2.It was yesterday that he visited her.

3. It was in Kyoto that he wrote the poem.

and

2. It was yesterday that he visited her.

You answer a question (that may contain where or when) with your statements that contain where and when. Whereas you make a statement with the phrases where you use "that".

It is a subtle difference, but it depends on the context.
