Please Check These Sentence...

Hi

Please check these sentences and suggest me some better way of expressing it:

1 "It's been a long time since I listen any song"

2 "Neither I talk like this way nor I want people to talk with me like this manner"

3 "Slaughter of cows and calves have or has been prohibited in several states" and why?

Thanking you

Yours truly, Himadri Roy

It's been a long time since I've listened to any songs.*
I don't talk like that, and I don't want other people talking to me like that either.
I don't talk that way, and I don't want other people talking to me that way either.
The slaughter of cows and calves has been prohibited in several states.

*It's been a long time since + PRESENT PERFECT.

CalifJimIt's been a long time since I've listened to any songs.*

*It's been a long time since + PRESENT PERFECT.
I think I may know your reasons for this, but:

"It's been a long time since I've listened" 347 hits at Yahoo
"It's been a long time since I listened" 431 hits at Yahoo

It's been a long time since + PAST also used.

The contrast is the same as for

I have already done it.
I already did it.

The British react to the second as to fingernails on a chalkboard. I'm not fond of it either. That's why I advised the use of present perfect. I think it's more universally accepted in the prescriptive approaches.
