Please check these conversations with 'Could'.
Jack: did you talk to the Guy?
Alex: Yes.
Jack: what does he look like
Alex: I don't know.
Jack: You just said you talking to him and now you are saying you didn't see him. How is it possible?
Jack: I could only talk to him but couldn't see him because he was in the car that has black glass.
Alex: Oh! I see.
Here, Jack only talked to the Guy but didn't see him, right??
One more conversation.
Jack: Rocky sir, why didn't you teach Alex how to play lotto game; you only taught me.
Rocky: I only taught you because Alex could do it.
Here could means he was able to play lotto game. So, he didn't need to be taught, right??
