There are situations when you don't have to use an article with nouns .

For example,
We don't sell Polish products. not " a polish"
Have you ever tried Thai food?. not "a Thai"

No, it's not OK. You need 'an' because 'description' is a singular countable noun. Except for abstract nouns, such nouns must have a determiner.
