Task 2: Studies show that many criminals have a low level of education. For this reason, people believe that the best way to reduce crime is to educate people in prison so they can get a job when leaving prison. Do you agree or disagree?
It is obvious that criminals often are low-educated people. Many argue that the most effective solution to alleviate the crime rates is to educate and train crimes in prison, which helps them can land a job after leaving prison. In my opinion, although I agree with this view, I find myself more convinced of the fact that not only governments but individuals should research more effective and long-term measures to curb this insurmountable problem.
There are several underlying reasons why I do not deny the belief that educating for crimes in prison is regarded as one of the most viable solutions to reduce crimes in contemporary society. First, crimes that are trained and studied in prison can many opportunities to become good citizens in the future. In fact, strict discipline in prison can help them gain a deeper insight into what they have committed the offense and caused. As a result, they can adjust their lifestyles. Second, prison is a good place that can support criminals to get a job by acquiring the necessary skills and hands-on experience via vocational courses in prison. Indeed, when criminals leave prison, they can easily land a decent job because they have completed training classes such as mechanical and gardening courses. Therefore, training in prison plays a crucial role to reduce crimes by creating many skilled workers.
In spite of the above arguments, I support the view that states should take into consideration other solutions such as changes and advances in education in school and family to lessen criminal rates. In terms of education in school, the ministry of education and training should enact laws to forbid smoking. This will relieve crimes as drug addicts. From the perspective of education in the family, parents need to have parental care and attention to their children, which can exert a major influence on the development of prospective children. If parents devote less time to their family, teenagers can be tempted by many issues of surrounding life such as Internet scams, drugs, or even prostitution. Therefore, the improvements in education in school and family are vital solutions to curb following a path of criminal behaviours.
In conclusion, while training crimes in prison is also a good measure, I believe that authorities should set more strict regulations in school, and ever single family should have parental control to mitigate juvenile delinquency situation.
