In the modern world, people no longer need to use food or products from animals, such as medicine and clothing. Do you agree or disagree with that statement?

The controversy about whether or not should people keep consuming animal products has been ongoing for years. Some argue that the killing of animals for food, medicine and clothing is completely unnecessary. In my viewpoint, I agree with this idea and several compelling reasons will be outlined in this essay.

On the one hand, I believe that humans can still survive without products made by killing animals. First, many research indicates that a plant-based diet has a hugely beneficial effect on human health and also helps us prevent various health risks while meats do not. Saturated fats in red and processed meat are associated with several illnesses and as a result, meat-eaters usually go down with health issues such as heart diseases or cancer. Besides, a lot of vegetables such as mushrooms or tofu do contain high levels of protein, a kind of nutrient presumably only found in meat, can therefore be used as a substitute.

On the other hand, in terms of moral issues, slaughter is slaughter, so people have no conscience when massacre other species for food, clothing or medicine, just put on the excuse that human is the most intelligent species in nature. If we assume that lower animals are our products, then what if someday the aliens landed on our planet, and they suppose that we are the less capable species than them and have to be their food or clothing, will we continue to accept that natural order rules?

In conclusion, I believe that our needs and desires do not justify the sufferings of animals and other resources on earth can be replaced for our necessities.
