A family is an essential place where children can live and grow. In the past, families had about ten children and were larger than now. In my opinion, the disadvantages of large families were greater than the advantages.
Perhaps one of the major advantages is that children were more responsible. Tasks in the house shared between members in the house and each one should do exact duty. What is more, they learnt social skills. They played with each other and shared their toys. More communities caused to improve their relationship with them. For example, the last study in India showed children from a large family had better communication with their friends and more successful in their education because their elder brother or sister helped them.
I believe that there were some disadvantages. perhaps, the first one is financial. One of the parents could not work, because he or she had to stay at home and look after children. So, the family earned less and could not support children in education and other activity. For example, in the south of Africa, some children that lived in large family left school because their family could not pay education cost. The other one is that parents could not pay much attention to individual children. They shared the free time for all family members and could not spend a long time to each child and solved their individual problems.
In conclusion, a family with more children had some benefits and drawbacks. In my point of view, drawbacks such as financial problems and individual problems more important than benefits.
