Topic: Cycling is more environmentally friendly than other forms of transport. Why is it not popular in many places? And how to increase its popularity?

In recent years, the using bicycle has declined in popularity although cycling has more the positive impact on the environment compared to cars, motorbikes or airplanes. This problem happens due to some reasons, and several solutions should be adopted to solve this phenomenon.

There are two main reasons why the proportion of bicycle usage decrease. First, it would be difficult to travel by this means of transport in modern life. This is because almost metropolises are a lack of space for cycle parking at home, at work or at stations. In addition, people thought going by bike may expose them to more risks of road accidents or street robberies compared to buses and cars which safely proceed in assigned lanes. Second, the population is less concern about vehicle’s effects on the environment. Therefore, it is rather impractical to expect cycling in cities or the countryside.

Fortunately, several measures could be taken to prevent this problem by the government. The first solution is that the government should launch an awareness campaign about transportations’ effects on the environment and call on residents cut down on emissions from their cars or motorbikes for reducing air pollution. For example, the government could organize a bicycle free day in order to encourage people to go by bike. The second solution is the government should direct the population’s attention to the great benefits of cycling. State leaders could use all the benefits of cycling to strongly influence public opinion through media channels or promote the movements about cycling, exercises by bike, etc.

In conclusion, there are various reasons of decreasing bicycle usage and its unpopularity and the government should adopt some solutions to tackle these problems.
