Please check my writing

He took off his shirt and waved it in the air, frantically trying to signal the helicopter even though it was too far away. In his desperation, he tripped and dropped the shirt off the cliff, almost heading the same way himself. He recovered from the shock, slowly climbed to his feet, and watched the helicopter disappear in the distance.
