In today’s job market it is far more important to have practical skills than theoretical knowledge. In the future, job applicants may not need any formal qualifications.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
There is a school of thought that in the present, job experiences are more essential than academic knowledge and qualified degrees might not be important to apply for a job in the future time. In my own perspective, while it is true that practical skills are more crucial nowaday, however I disagree with the idea that formal qualifications are not compulsory for job application.
To begin with, there are several benefits of having practical experiences. First of all, by obtaining important skills for the job such as communication or management, job applicants might have more advantages to impress the employers during the interview. Moreover, instead of participating in non-salary training courses, they can get to work directly. If an applicant only has theoretical knowledge, they might encounter several difficulties such as competing for the job with other talented candidates or solving problems at works. The second advantage is that people with several practical knowledge might be chosen for higher positions than others. Therefore, they could in charge many campaigns at once thus their wages might be greater.
However, I believe formal qualifications are as important as experiences in term of job application. The first reason is that degree is concrete evidence to endorse to the employers that the candidate has knowledge and potential on the area they are looking for. If the interviewee does not have any university or college certifications, it might be a difficulty for the interviewers in determining whether they are suitable for the position or not. In addition, by having a degree from the school that acclaimed good reputation for teaching such as Yale or Havard, this can be a good first impression in the resumé.
In conclusion, although practical skills are vital for the present’s job market, I would argue that having a formal diploma could have some advantages to some extent such as first impressions.
