Please check my Thesis Statement

Can someone help me with my thesis statement, anything I should add or take out? Anything to make it a stronger statement? Thanks.

We were asked to create thesis about religion in the Middle Ages, we had to include references to Saint Augustine Confessions, Hildegard of Bingen and Dante's Inferno, so that is why they are mentioned.

Thesis:
The Middle Ages was a period where people were expected to prove their religious beliefs through their actions; in Dante's Inferno he proves they must make Godly choices in their everyday lives, commit their lives to the church as seen in Hildegard of Bingen and in Saint Augustine's Confessions it proves that if they were a Christian they must be baptized and live free of sin thereafter or confess those sins.
