Essay & Composition Writing

Many people think that it is unnecessary to teach children handwriting skills in this technology age. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

There is often debate about whether children nowadays should learn legible writing. In my opinion, I still believe that handwriting remains an important role for children.

On the one hand, because of the advancement of technology, good penmanship may be decreased in a near future. Many electronic devices like computers, laptops provide a mean to record information. Also, it is faster than not-taking, thus, children could save their time. Futhermore, the majority of jobs in today's world require typing skills. To be more specific, the information could be easily edited on the computer and stored more securely online. For instance, business e-mails are part of the efficient functioning of most organisations.

On the other hand, despite the aforementioned, handwriting skills is still necessary for children because of some reasons. Firstly, handwriting could be related to reading and spelling skills. For example, if children can own readable writing, they will make sense of letter quickly, making them become good readers when they grow up. Secondly, education still use written examination as a form of assessment. For instance, Ielts has not yet been superseded by computer versions of exams. Therefore, students should improve their writting skills if they want to achieve high grades. Finally, handwritten letters would not be replaced by emails as they provoke deeper emotions form receivers.

In conclusion, although the advant of some electronic devices poses a threat to the future of handwriting, i am still in favor of the opinion that it is crucial to teach children how to write legibly
