Set in the 1950s in Czechoslovakia, during harsh times under the communist regime. Homosexuality was illegal as same as to cross the state borders (for 41 years!).

Col. Vladimir (the blonde one) is a WWII hero. He wants to escape to the US, to live free, though such an act would be considered as treason to the state and would be punished by death.

Stanislav (the young one) is a talented but persecuted actor, as his parents were against the communist ideology. Even so, he wants benefits only the official government can provide him, so he agrees to work for the secret police. His task is to seduce Vladimir to get proof he wants to emigrate. During his mission, Stanislav develops some feelings for Vladimir, but it is too late.

There are proves Vladimir is a traitor. To avoid destruction of his name in public and torture during interrogations before the death sentence, Vladimir chooses to leave as a free man. ((here I am suggesting he committed a suicide, is it a proper choice of words? thank you))
