Please check my motivation letter

Dear Sir,



I would like to put myself at your disposal for my PhD. Please let me explain my motivation in a few words.

A PhD proposal to work on N-terminal domain of Transient Receptor Potential TRPV1

(Vanilloid receptor) at Institute of Physical Biology of University of North Punjab under very competent supervision of Dr Afaq Nazir is very fascinating to me. The molecular cloning of the non specific ion channel TRPV1 (vanilloid receptor) represented a breakthrough in the molecular biology of thermal perception of noxious stimuli but molecular identity and organization of the TRPV1 signaling complex is still elusive. In the past few years TRPV1 is the focus for many short reviews for the researcher which shows that there is still a potential to fill in large gaps of our understanding about TRPV1. There is a strong need of research project on structure and function relationships which elucidate the molecular architecture of neuronal receptor i.e. TRPV1.

Looking a bright future into this project I have a strong desire to work with Dr. Afaq Nazir. Moreover his professional excellence reflects from his keen dedication for publication i.e. 30 international publication with in a short period of 27 months and his association with other strong research group inspire me very much. I will be professionally trained under supervision of Dr Rudi Ettrich to fight against future challenges and it will also help me to raise the level of research into my homeland.



I did my M.Phil in Biotechnology from Fathma Jinnah University Multan. In my position with Dr. Farooq Aftab at IBGE as a research student I was actively involved in identification, cloning and expression profiling of genes involved in development of cotton fiber through differential display. I am quite familiar with DNA extraction, mRNA extraction, plasmid extraction, cDNA synthesis, cloning, primer designing, RT-PCR, DNA sequencing, Southern hybridization, differential display, RAPD, tissue culture, bioinformatics tools. I am also familiar with Microsoft word, PowerPoint, excel, outlook express, internet, windows XP, Adobe acrobat, Adobe Photoshop and can handle other computer application very easily. With my present expertise and knowledge I would greatly enjoy assisting your research group in incorporating this knowledge into specific research initiatives. Therefore, I see a very good fit between your ongoing research needs and my interests and abilities. I am sure that I can put my full energy, same ambition and skill to use for you, and yet continue to improve upon it as I learn from some of the competent scientist in field of research.
