Please check my letter

Could anyone help me correct this letter? Thanks!Dear Tom:As you might have heard, I had a party last Saturday in my house. I am really sorry that I mistakenly failed to send you my invitation. You were on the guest list right from the moment I began planning the party. After all you’ve been so nice and supportive to me since we became neighbors. After finishing everyone’s invitation, including yours off course, I went out delivering each of them. When I dropped by your house, you happened to be not in unfortunately. I figured that I could tell you about it on the phone, but just as I was about to call you, someone rang the doorbell and I somehow ended up forgetting all about it. Your understand would be very appreciated.
