The given extract from the play “The Pushcart Peddlers” written by Murray Shisgal and published in 1980, deals ironically with the American Dream of two Jewish immigrants.
The main characters of the play are Shimmel Shitzman and Cornelius J. Hollingsworth (former: Crapavarnishkes). Shitzman and Hollingsworth sell bananas in a partnership with a pushcart in the harbour of New York.
Shitzman remains in an inferior position during the whole play, since Hollingsworth arrived one day earlier in America. He tries to abuse Shitzman’s inexperience in order to maximize his own profit by taking advantage in negotiations.

In the following I am going to analyse the scene by characterizing Shimmel’s and Cornelius’ behaviour and by pointing out comical elements.

Have you ever come across a time in your life where you visualize yourself in a stupendous
location just relaxing, having zero stress and have fun all at the same time? A place surrounded
with white sand warm beaches and crystal-clear water. Consider an island nation off the east
coast of Kenya called The Seychelles.
