Topic: Environmental protection is the responsibility of politicians, not individuals as individuals can do too little. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is believed that protecting the environment is only for governments’ responsibilities and individuals can not greatly contribute to this issue. In my opinion, I disagree with this statement and strongly think that both politicians and people can take charge of environmental protection.

On the one hand, governments have the authority to introduce laws and policies to limit emissions from factories. By forcing companies and plants to use renewable energy from solar, wind and water power, it can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere, which not contributes to global warming. Moreover, politicians can subsidize the cost of fares and encourage their citizens to use public transport instead of personal vehicles to cut down on exhaust fumes and control the air pollution.

On the other hand, individuals play an important role in environmental protection. Nowadays, the consumption of using plastic bags increases rapidly because of people’s demands, which leads to a lot of serious consequences, such as deforestation and cutting down trees. Thus, by using bags made from fabric and paper or planting trees, each person will contribute to the success of looking after our planet to avoid natural disaster. Because of these positive effects, I believe that the cooperation between politicians and individuals is very essential to address environmental issues. For example, if people limit to use their private vehicles, the goal of reducing exhaust fumes and protecting the air can be achieved.

In conclusion, I definitely agree that environmental protection is the responsibility of both governments and individuals. If each person conforms to the state’s policies, the environment will be protected and be safe.
