Topic: It is often thought that the increase in juvenile crime can be attributed to violence in the media. What do you think is the reason for the growth in the rate of juvenile crime? What solutions can you offer to deal with this situation?

In recent years, the increase in juvenile crime has been receiving a great deal of the public’s attention. Although this concern can be attributed to a whole host of reasons, some feasible measures should be considered to address.

There are a number of reasons to explain why youth commit crimes. First, since social media has various questionable contents, either violent games or movies, which make youth’s characters become aggressive. In fact, some young people have a tendency to solve all the conflicts by violent, leading a result that they can be would-be law-breakers. Second, adolescents are targeted by drug dealers as drug trafficking has become rampant. Plenty of evidence suggests that human’s brain is susceptible to negative influences of the drug, thus making the young have the desire to engage in illegal activities after getting high.

Nevertheless, there is some practical approach to prevent the youth from offending. First, by controlling the contents broadcasted on the media, the youth can have less access to the depraved programs. For example, some official TV channels are showing many socio-cultural and educational programs instead of violent contents, which limits the negative impacts on youth’s behaviour and characters. Second, if several multiple conversations with young people about drug, delinquency and their link are organized, adolescents will be raised their awareness to protect themselves from illegal activities. Therefore, the number of youth offenders is likely to reduce.

In conclusion, juvenile delinquencies can be caused by many reasons, which can be tackled by several proactive measures. By controlling the violent contents on the social media and raising youth’s awareness, the government can make the situation better.
