Art is considered an important part of a society as well as an expression of its culture. Do you think it is important for children to be taught art? Do you think children should be encouraged to focus on art rather than other subjects?

It is believed that art plays an important role in society as it can express a culture through one’s creativity. While I agree that children should learn art for the imagination and artistic skill but prioritizing it over other subjects is not a good idea.

Art should be taught to children, especially kids under 12 years old, in order to stimulate their brain cells which enhance one’s logical thinking and promote creativity. Without the development of logical and creative thinking, children might struggle to express their own ideas and opinions further into adulthood, the worst case could be them turning into a people pleasers just to feel included in society. Furthermore, art has been a natural talent that every kid is gifted with but adolescents did not nurture it properly. As a result, it became oblivion the more children grow up.

However, encouraging children to only focus on art rather than other subjects is arbitrary. Despite being kids, students had been well known for their hectic schedule so if art becomes mandatory, students will be impeded in studying other talented subjects such as mathematics. For example, one who intended to be a scientist would focus more on science, math, etc but art is taking up most of their studying time. Therefore, exceeding those career crucial subjects would be a challenge for them and another drawback is that studying art can be futile if one will not use it frequently.

In conclusion, as crucial as art can be in stimulating a child creativity and individual thinking, it is noteworthy that all subjects should be equal in order for students with different talents to have time to nurture them.
