The given table illustrates changes in some aspects with regards to population in Australia and Malaysia between 1980 and 2002.

Overall, there was a significant increase in total population in both countries, while other categories showed slight changes.

In detail, the population of Australia showed a moderate rise from 14.7 millions in 1980 to 19.6 millions in 2002. Likewise, the population figure for Malaysia was 13.7 millions in the first year, which increased remarkably to 24.3 millions. On the other hand, the proportion of male and female population of roughly a half the total population for each gender remained steady for both countries over the period of 22 years.

With regards to the remaining categories, there were slight changes for both nations. For example, birth rate and growth rate of population for Australia were 1.5% and 1.3% in 1980, both of which stood at the same rate of 1.3% in 2002. Similarly the figures for Malaysia also showed some marginal declines, dropping by 1% for birth rate and 0.3% for population growth rate. With regards to the proportion of people aged over 65, there was a slightly increase of around 3% for Australia, whereas the percentage for Malaysia rose by only 0.6%.
