The two maps of the Southwest Airport as it is at present and as it will be after remodelling next year depict many changes that will occur.
Overall, the airport will be enlarged, especially its southern area becoming Y-shaped. In addition, the number of gates is about to be over double that now, and a lot of convenient facilities will also be installed.
In detail, the airport is divided into two areas, one for arrivals and another for departures. In the first area are passport control customs, while in the second area are the security passport control, a check-in, and a café. There is a rectangular area in the south of the airport which has eight gates and two walkways.
After redevelopment, both the size and configuration of the airport will change. It will double in size due to the reconstruction of the southern area which will have 18 gates and two sky trains replacing two existing walkways and the addition of a car hire area in the northeast. The departure lounge will have an additional gate, a bag drop, and some shops behind the security passport control. The arrival lounge will also have another gate; a coffee and an ATM are planned to be on the eastern periphery.
