Topic: Most people have forgotten the meaning behind traditional or religious festivals; during festival periods, people nowadays only want to enjoy themselves.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion.
It is stated that the original meaning of festivals is forgotten and most people treat them as opportunities to have fun. I definitely disagree with this statement and I believe that people are aware of what these festivals mean.
Each year many religious festivals are held in my country and almost all people treat them as they should be treated. In many of them people gather to mourn, for examples, during the first to tenth of Muharram not only people of my country but also many people around the world perform ritual ceremony for the honor of Imam Hussein. Therefore I can say the term "most people treat festivals as opportunities to have fun" is not true for my people.
How would be possible to walk about 100 km which is absolutely demanding task during a festivals, if you did not understand the meaning behind it? This what pilgrims do in their journey to Karbala. It is worth noting that this city is one of the holy places for Muslims. Although the details of battle of Karbala is taught in schools of my country, if you ask each individual who participate in this event "why do you attend?", the answer will certainly be "because of rehearsing Imam Hussein message louder".
In conclusion, in my country people do remember the true meaning of festivals and they conduct festivals properly.
