Topic: Nowadays, people depend on technology for leisure activities. Is this a positive or negative development?

In recent years, technology has become an integral part of almost every aspect of life. This makes people rely on it to do many activities, including leisure pursuits. It is believed to be a negative trend since it has a detrimental influence on people’s mental and physical health.

First, there are some reasons behind this, such as people's ability to access easily and conveniently a variety of entertainment. This can be understood by the fact that, with the advent of smartphones, people can now play games, listen to music, and watch movies to unwind during their free time. In addition, they can also use the internet or access social media to enjoy a large amount of interesting content, which may be useful and help them broaden their minds.

However, this trend has more negative impacts than positive ones. Since utilizing technology during leisure time keeps people stay in one place for a long time, this will make people become more and more lazy, leading to a sedentary life that gradually weakens their health. Sitting for an extended period of time can also lead to the development of some diseases, such as obesity and cardiovascular disease. Moreover, being glued to the screen for hours may do harm to their eyes, leading to some other diseases such as eyestrain or even short-sightedness. Not only our physical health but using technology too much is also associated with an increased risk of depression as people have less time to hang out with friends and meet others.

In conclusion, although the increasing reliance on technology for leisure pursuits has some merits, I believe that it does more harm than good.
