People are facing the dilemma of whether decide to take a gap year would be an opportunity to broaden knowledge or just a waste of time. However, as to whether it is a blessing or a curse, there arises a heated debate among people with different background.
On one side of the argument, there are many who claim that, before attending tertiary education and beginning to work, taking a gap year would broaden their knowledge. Under certain assumption, this can be construed as traveling before begin work and take the third education or working before going to university. These activities help them to gain more knowledge and broaden their mind. By way of illustration, before attending university which is specialised in tourism, people could spend their time travelling around to expose various cultures, get to know different people in different countries and learn how to communicate with different them in basics. Eventually, when they attend tourism university the efficacy of their studying would be far more excellent than students who did not take a gap year to travel.
However, there are some subscribe to the view that it would be no use spending a year off to travel instead of going to university or begin to work. This means that they find that they could learn nothing which is beneficial for their future in condition that they take a gap year. Taking a gap year is just a fancy reason for their laziness. As a result, when they begin to go to university, they would like to fall behind and could not keep up wit h their studies. This may lead to a peer pressure as people who are at their age are sophomore while they are just a freshman.
In conclusion, taking a gap year would bring both benefit and drawbacks to people. To my way of thinking, it is beneficial to take a gap year for broading the mind.
