In modern society, environmental-related issues have confronted ecological scientists, government agencies, and the general public. Human have been damaging the environment ever since we realised our powers to harness nature. The consequences of these actions can be seen in various form. It was reported that global warming and air pollution had become major issues as a result of environmental pollution that the world needs to cope up with. By 2015, the average temperature of the Earth had been rising nearly 40 degrees Celsius compared with the temperature during the last ice age, about 13,000 years ago. The environmental pollution has greatly affected the quality of life for animals, plants and humans. More people are suffering from respiratory problems, weaker immunity, kidney and liver infections, cancer, and other chronic illnesses. In response to these disasters, every possible measure is being taken by the different countries in the world. For example, France commited that they will have closed all coal-fired power plants by 2021. And Taiwan is planning a blanket ban on single-use plastic items including straws, cups and shopping bags by 2030. In conclusion, I would maintain that only a combination of international agreement, national policies, and changes in individual behaviour will succeed in preventing further damage to the environment.
