The sentences in Bold is my essay title and I am suppose to write up to 250 words:

Children below the age of 16 should not be allowed in public places after midnight unless they are accompanied by an adult who is responsible for them.

How far do you agree with this suggestions?

Teenagers in the past had curfew set by their parents to ensure that their own children are backed home after dark. Government authorities are now planning to impose this on a national scale to children under 16 after midnight in public areas unless they are accompanied by an adult. In this essay, I will examine some of the positive and negative aspect of this issue.

For those in support of this scheme, this is said to help clearing children out of streets and reducing crime associated with juveniles. Police representatives said that children shouldn't be out after midnight anyway, this is not only for their own safety but for the community as a whole. Besides, children will not only benefit in terms of academic studies at school but will also engage more with family.

Opponents, however, argues that this may create tension between the children and the authority instead. Youngster groups thinks that their voices seeking for more freedom and independence is just not perceive. From their perspective, they feel that their only socialising time is deprived from them if this law is established as most children are in lessons during the daytime.

To sum up, I do agree with the statement to a certain extend because children shouldn't really stay up after midnight due to safety reasons. On the other hand, I think that the authority should compromise with the children by introducing in a friendlier approach. For example, they should encourage the parents to set their own guidelines for their children and only taken this as their last resort to target areas with high level of juvenile criminal activity.
