It is argued that studying in a group is an effective method for learners, however, some people hold the view that independent study brings more benefits to students. I will discuss both sides and outline my personal opinion in the essay below.

On the one hand, learning on one’s own can be beneficial to some extent. Firstly, independent learners can study on one’s own space. For example, when you study in a group, some members can be late or forget about meetings, which impedes learning effectiveness and productivity. Moreover, the solitary learning style also motivates learners to practice their personal thinking without relying on others. As a result, learners can boost their potential abilities and enhance their cognitive capability.

On the other hand, there are two irrefutable arguments for studying in a group. Firstly, nowadays, students need to attend a wide range of classes. For this reason, it might be difficult for students to gain all their knowledge. If learners study in a group, they can be supported by other members. For instance, high achievers may explain the tough exercises to help other members to get a better grasp of it. This contributes to the overall development of the group. Secondly, studying in a group is a good way to improve students’ teamwork skills. If the students are ill-prepared in cooperation skills, it might pose a challenge for youngers to get well-paid jobs in the future.

In conclusion, both studying in a group and learning individuals are two good approaches to knowledge and I believe the combination of these two methods is preferable.
