Topic :

Passive smoking kills. The most vulnerable section of the population are both the unborn and the very young children as their lungs are still developing. For this reason, smoking in public places should be prohibited.

Nowadays, due to importance of public health, smoking in public places has banned by governments in many countries. Some people believe that passive smoking may cause health problems for non-smokers, especially young children. There are several arguments for and against this idea. Some of them are as follow:

People who are against banning smoking in public places think that it would be lead to economical problems in certain careers. For example, if smoking is prohibited in particular places, such as café and restaurants, it might cause sales decline. Because smoker persons would be reluctant to go to these places. Another justification they put forward is that forbidding smoking law might ignore freedom right of smokers. To illustrate, because tobacco is not illegal, smokers claim that they have the right to use tobacco everywhere. People who are opposed to smoking bans believe that these restrictions could bring particular mental effects for smokers. For instance, the majority of smoker persons use cigarette to get rid of their stress. So they will be dissatisfied with this compulsory rule.

On the other hand, the supporters of banning smoking in public places argue that passive smoking cause many health problems for people who are surrounding the smokers, Specially young children. Namely, these days, numerous diseases, such as lung cancer is the consequences of the passive smoking. Those people who are for smoking bans believe that smoking is a behavior which might become immoral pattern for teenagers and young persons and encourages them to smoking. Unfortunately, some smokers have started smoking at younger ages. Those who are in favor of banning smoking are of the opinion that non-smoker persons often prefer to inhale pure air rather than enduring polluted air which is caused by smoking.

In conclusion, I personally agree with the idea that smoking in public places should be forbidden by governments. In my opinion, another effective way to deal with this issue is to promote public education.
