Topic: The graph below gives information about U.S. government spending on research between 1980 and 2008.

The line graph compares the government spending on five research in the U.S. namely Health, Space, Energy, General Science, and Others from 1980 to 2008.

It is clear that the amount of money that the government spends on each research has fluctuated over the period shown. Overall, a much larger amount of expenditure on Health had the highest of the United States government compared to four other research.

In 1980, the amount of money spent on the Health of the United States was about 8$ billion. The figures for Space, Energy and Other were lower, at about 6, 5 and 7$ billion respectively. General Science recorded the lowest government expenditure from 1980 to 2000, reaching 5$ billion in 2000. In 2004, government expenditure in both Energy and General Science exhibited equal money, with 5$ billion, while the figure for Health peaked at 22$ billion.

By 2008, the amount of money spent for Space was the highest in the United States. Conversely, Health experienced a downward trend in the year of 2008, reaching 18$ billion.
