University education should be free to everyone, regardless of income. Are you agree or disagree?

It is believed that the government should subsidize the tuition fees for students in tertiary education. While this view is valid to a certain extent, I think that people need to be responsible for their fees at universities or colleges, regardless of any financial status.

On the one hand, tuition fees should be free to ensure the equality of chances for all students having any financial backgrounds. Some families are not able to afford for their children to join universities. Therefore, it would be good opportunities for students suffering from the economic difficulties to pursue undergraduate education. As a result, the number of students coming to universities would increase significantly. The more students join higher studies, the higher the level of education in the country will become.

On the other hand, tertiary education without paying fees could be a true threat to students, especially their motivation. Because students know that they do not have to pay the fees, they tend to have no responsibility for their study. To put it differently, students are more likely to skip the classes as well as ignore the homework as they think that they can restudy with no extra fees if they fail the exams. As a consequence, the quality of higher education of a country in general would become much worse.

In conclusion, while people can get several benefits from studying without fees at universities, there is no doubt that it has some serious effects on university study advancements.
