In the past, most people lived in small villages where everyone knew everyone else. Nowadays, most people live in large cities where they only know a few people in their area. What do you think were the advantages and disadvantages of living in a small community?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge and experience.

Population distribution had changed significantly recently since most people chose to live in big cities although they hardly know their neighbors instead of the countryside which is known as a solidarity community. From my perspective, small community is a perfect place for children but also a barrier of healthcare and education.

On the one hand, a small community is often considered as a more friendly environment. This could be a noticeable advantage to families with childrens. They will be able to find their soulmates easily. Moreover, children who grew up in a small community have less health problems, for example obesity, mental problems and short sightedness. They can hang out with friends, enjoy fresh air after hard-working hours at school instead of playing video games or watching TVs. Children also suffer less from stress of doing homework and taking extra classes.

On the other hand, living in the countryside could limit people's access to healthcare and education facilities. People in these areas have to travel a long distance in order to find a trusted and modern hospital or clinic in emergency cases. It causes inconvenience of traveling back and forth together with financial pressure. Students can hardly study comfortablely since schools in small community usually lack of qualified equipment for subjects that require experiments, internet connection and other technology facilities. This could also affects on learning languages because of rare opportunities to practice speaking and study resources.

In conclusion, living in a small community shows both advantages as well as drawbacks. It provides a wonderful environment for childhood but also block them from accessing to better facilities.
