Topic: Do you agree with the following statement: “Learning an additional language is a good way to improve one’s job prospects in any field”. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

In globalization century, understanding another language is a requirement of most of the companies to be recruited. Therefore, people believe that learning an additional one would better their careers’ prospects. From my perspective, I agree with the statement because of several benefits of this action in promoting and improving oneself.

Multilingual persons are more competitive in promoting since more and more companies are trying to export their products or expand their scale on over the world. Supervisors often look for candidates who are able to erase the language barriers between them and customers. Employees should understand international market and customers demand in different countries. Those who can use other languages fluently would be chosen to handle important duties such as negotiating with international investors or attending meetings in abroad.

Moreover, learning another language brings relationships which benefits one’s career. The ability to communicate in different languages connects employees with more people, for example managers from other companies. They can also receive offers from international cooperation or applying themselves. They can find the opportunities to work in abroad with better income and living conditions.

Furthermore, mastering an additional language enriches their knowledge through searching or achieving information in various sources. It is considered as an advantage to be able to explore and understand documents written in different languages. Employees will be able to learn and improve themselves in profession and skills. Once employees have stable base of knowledge together with experience, they are qualified for jobs in higher positions.

In conclusion, learning another language is a step closer to be qualified for higher positions. Mastering it would be time consuming and a complicated process. However, it is definitely worth the effort since this action is not only a key to the successful promotion but also the improvement in knowledge of people.
