In developing countries, children in rural communities have less access to education. Some people believe that the problem can be solved by providing more schools and teachers, while others think that the problem can be solved by providing computers and Internet access. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
People have different views about how to aid children in deprived regions in approaching education. While some individuals believe that computers and Internet access could cope with this problem, I would argue that building more schools and hiring more teachers might be a more long-term and effective solution for the issue.
On the one hand, one of the reasons why a lot of children in rural areas of developing countries, especially in mountain regions, find it challenging to go to school is geographical barriers. Providing computers and Internet access could be a good way to tackle this problem since it is the onset of distance education or online education or web-based training. With this facility, children in rural areas could take up courses with the course material available online, attend virtual classes, learn and appear for exams. Therefore, children could gain knowledge of different subjects at their home instead of facing dangerous to go to school.
On the other hand, there are stronger reasons why schools and teachers might be a better option for rural children’s access to education. The first reason is that because developing nations, especially in remote areas, usually face a severe school and teacher shortage. A wealth of rural children cannot go to school because there are few or no schools at all or it is too far from their houses to school. Therefore, constructing more schools and employing more teachers in these places could afford students the opportunity to approach education more easily. Another reason is that many children are unlikely to study by themselves effectively so that they need the help of teachers. In these cases, teachers play an important role as they can acknowledge these students’ deficiencies and help them to solve their problems by explaining more clearly, giving suitable exercises or even tutoring them privately. Furthermore, school discipline also makes a contribution to an ideal learning environment for students.
In conclusion, although both views certainly have validity, it seems to me that it is better for students in the back of beyond to have access education by providing more schools and teachers.
