Topic: The idea of having a single career is becoming an old-fashioned one. The new fashion will be to have several careers or ways of earning money and further education will be something that continues throughout the life. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Task

In the context of globalization, plentiful of jobs are created as a result of scientific and technological advancement. Consequently, the concept of having several jobs is becoming obsolete and the idea of doing several jobs is more fashionable. Personally, I strongly agree that having multiple careers will be a means of strengthening people’s skills and earning more money.

First, multiple careers can provide people with new skill sets. In fact, people who are good at taking on extra roles have ability to acquire multitasking skills. This helps them to survive in severe working environments and change the jobs anytime they want. Moreover, they will be able to quickly response to any problems that they meet. For example, a person who is a full time officer and become a part–time teacher in the evening will have to do multiple tasks such as document preparation, management and communication. These tasks create a good habit for them to adapt to different conditions as well as handle with obstacles during working time.

Second, people who have several careers will have opportunities to increase their income through different sources, leading to the sustainability of their living standards. Furthermore, this creates satisfied feeling and motivates them work harder. For example, if a person has two separate jobs like consulting or multiple part–time jobs, his/her income is more secure than just only one. In case, one of two companies goes out of business, he/she still can live along with the income from another one.

In conclusion, I totally agree that having several careers is a better way of gaining skills and getting more income. (269 words)
