The tradition that the family gets together to eat meals is disappearing. What are the reasons? What are the impacts?

It is the fact that family gatherings in mealtimes are fading away in contemporary society. There are some explanations for this tendency and it has negative implications for family life and children health.

The ever-increasing tendency of mealtimes distraction in today’s family can be ascribed to two primary reasons. First, feeding the children in front of the television is the norm in modern days, which is less time for a family gathering during meals. Children are prone to fussy eating so that their parents have to allow them to eat while watching advertisements or animated movies because that way is supposed to help them eat more. Second, a certain of people frequently stuck at heavy workload and upcoming deadlines which is time-intensive then having meals with their family is a luxury. Given that businessmen have no more time left for eating a meal with their family members when tied up with work and business trip.

The growing trend toward lack of mealtime togetherness has produced negative effects. Eating at home is a great opportunity to protect children’s wellbeing based on home-made meals or home-grown foods. without this routine, children stick to junk food or snacks which run the risk of a variety of diseases, in particular, obesity or diabetes they would suffer later on. Furthermore, having a meal with family members plays an important role in informatively tighten the family bond in the long run. Mealtimes are the time when family members are given a chance to gather up to share daily news and give guidance or make a plan together.

In conclusion, some reasons can be identified for the decline of mealtime gatherings and the impacts are overwhelmingly serious.
