In some countries, owning a home rather than renting one is very important for people. Why might this be the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative trend?

In many areas of the world, people are in favor of owning a home, and they consider that is much more significant than renting a house. There could be several reasons for this, and I would argue it to be a positive trend.

Homeownership has surged in popularity because of the numerous benefits which owning a house brings about. First, possessing a house drives homeowners a sense of security and stability. People can have a stable life when settling down with their own homes; they neither need to worry about hunting for a new house when renting contract expires nor unexpected increases in rental payment. Therefore, they have more time and energy to attain other long-term goals such as career or marriage. In other words, owning a house is likely a secure base for everyone. Second, becoming a homeowner also means that people have more initiatives. They can choose their favorite house design, furnish or extend their homes without waiting for the landlord's permission.

The trend towards homeownership is positive because it is not only beneficial for homeowners’ lives but society as a whole. People who afford a house are referred to as they can prove their financial stability. Therefore, the more homeowners an area has, the healthier economy that area is. Additionally, rental neighborhoods have constant tenants move in and out. By contrast, people would have close neighbors for years when settling in their own homes. As a result, research has shown that the crime rate is likely to be lower in areas where most residents have their own houses than in rental areas.

In conclusion, I believe that owning a house is progress because of these advantages and reasons described above.
