The following chart shows the results of a British survey taken in 2009 related to housing preferences of UK people.

The bar chart compares the proportion of 4 types of houses which were chosen by UK people in 2009.

Overall, it is immediately evident from the graph that while apartments were the leading preference in Liverpool, semi-detached houses were more popular in London and Manchester. Notably, terraced houses were the least common in both 3 countries..

When it comes to Liverpool, nearly 60% of its residents lived in an apartment, which was two-thirds the figure for semi-detached houses, at roughly 40%. The proportions of people residing in terraced houses and detached houses are least common in this city, which accounted for approximately 10%.

Likewise, 40% of dwellers in London preferred living in semi-detached houses and the same figure was recorded in Manchester. In addition, detached houses were more common in Manchester in comparison with London, which stood at 35% and 25% in turns. However the opposite tendency was seen in the figure for apartment and terraced houses with about 25% of people in London and 15% of people living in Manchester in each option.
