Professor presented in his speech the reasons why ecocertification of wood should be adopted by U. S companies.
The lecture has the opposite point of view with the author of reading passage about ecocertification advertisement. He believes that Americans trust independent certification agency therefore they will prefer to buy ecocertified wood if it is advertised by independent certification agency. A lot of Americans are trying to be environmentally friendly nowadays. As a result, they would try to purchase wood products which are certified by trustworthy agencies.
Professor disagreed with the statement about consumer’s preferences for cheaper products. He states that Americans intend to choose cheaper products if the difference in prices is very high. However, if the prices are not much different, they would prefer to buy a little bit more expensive product but ecocertified and qualitative.
The lecturer disputed with the reading passage concerning the third statement about international wood business. He claims that entering the international wood market is essential for America. It is not just because of international customers but also because of international competition. There is a risk that if the demand grows vastly, Americans will not be able to satisfy the demand and offer their products, overseas companies will grow and overtake American market. At the mean time, the reading passage asserts that American wood companies should operate in America only.
