THE TOPIC:
The best way to reduce youth crime is to educate their parents with
parental skills. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
MY ESSAY:
It is true that parents play a significant role in reducing juvenile crime. However, I disagree that teaching parents how to raise their children is the most effective way to tackle this problem.
On the one hand, providing classes about teenagers and their behavior for parents is necessary. First, young people, who do not have thoughtful care from parents, are likely to fall foul of the law. In Vietnam, youth crime is increasing because parents spend too much time earning and neglect in upbringing children. Second, having knowledge in taking care of teenagers, parents can find and solve quickly anti-behaviors. For example, when youngsters have signs of game addiction, parents can prohibit this action immediately and encourage their sons or daughters to take part in sports activities.
On the other hand, almost all children’s time is spent outside, especially at schools, where they might cope with risks from friends and learning pressure. If children hang out with bad friends who do not have a good lifestyle and use stimulants, they will be affected negatively. For instance, when someone breaks the law in school and is not punished, this will lead to more terrible behaviors in others. Moreover, a lot of teenagers who live without parents need help from philanthropic organizations. In Vietnam, to reduce the crime rate in youths, orphans are nurtured and connected with the education system.
In conclusion, although teaching parental skills for parents is essential, improving children’s habitat and schools need to be considered such the most important measures.
