TOPIC: Living in large cities today poses many problems for people.

What are these problems? Should governments encourage more people to live in smaller towns?

There have been numerous existing issues that citizens in big cities have to deal with every day and it is suggested that government should encourage settling in neighboring areas as a way to address these problems. The drawbacks of city life will be discussed in the following essay before my opinion is drawn in the end.

There most pressing problem concerning the majority of population is the population growth. The increasing population leads to the rise in demand for private vehicles, which only exacerbates traffic congestion, especially during rush hour. This not only inconveniences commuters but also causes frustration among passengers and drivers due to being stuck in traffic for hours. Another issue that troubles citizens’ lives is the climate change resulting from human activities such as deforestation, vehicle emissions and nuclear energy. The change in climate pattern has lead to many consequences, namely temperatures rise which impacts on people’s lives in their daily activities and personal health. According to some reports, there have been deaths especially, in many tropical climate cities because of the high temperatures.

In order to tackle the aforementioned problems, encouraging citizens to move to smaller towns is a feasible solution. This can alleviate pressure on cities’ infrastructure and their people as the daily volume of traffic decreases, followed by an improvement of air quality and as well as the citizens’ health. however, the plan might meet a stumbling block because few people are willing to settle down in a place with less job prospect and lower living standard. Therefore, along with the encouragement, investment in regional towns’ infrastructure such as schools, hospitals and streets should be made in order to attract more inhabitation.

In conclusion, there are two major issues in large cities that citizens have to face on a daily basic and I think that relocating people to less populated areas is an effective approach in the effort to solve the problems.
