Today, more than ever, we experience increasing noise in society. Why do you think this is a problem? What causes noise pollution and what can be done to minimize the problem?
Nowadays, people are experiencing noise at an alarmingly high level. In my opinion, this problem, which is caused by unnecessary honking of cars, can negatively affect the physical wellness of individuals and their employment. However, there are a myriad ways to solve this.
Noise pollution is considered a problem because it has a profound effect on the optimum level of welfare of people and their jobs. For instance, as a health care provider, I have seen a patient, who, upon interview, revealed that he is exposed daily to cars loudly and unnecessarily blowing their horns while going to work. As a result, he suffered a partial hearing loss, which also has a great impact to his work as a hotel receptionist, not being able to clearly hear his customers' queries. Indeed, deafening sounds can be detrimental not only to people's health but also to their jobs.
To tackle this issue, the government should be at the forefront in raising awareness of the effects brought by loud honking of automobiles through giving pamphlets or through various advertisements. For example, the Department of Health in Indonesia is actively publishing on social media its campaign, "Ear CARe Patrol," where every driver who honks his vehicle at high decibels undergoes a seminar on the effect of too much noise to ears. With this method, the noise in the environment is lessened.
In conclusion, the officials of a nation play a crucial role in maintaining a peaceful and healthy environment. If noises are kept to a minimum, then society is a better place to live in.
