Some people think it is better for children to grow up in the city, while others think that life in the countryside is more suitable. What are the advantages and disadvantages of both places?

Some people argue that the countryside offers children a safe environment for them to grow up, while others claim that the city has several educational facilities conducive to healthy development of children. In this essay, I will examine the pros and cons of living in the city and the countryside in relation to children.

On the one hand, many parents who want their children to live in the city rather than the countryside believe that the best educational institutions are in the city. Indeed, according to the recent university-ranking survey, the most reputable schools for young people are located in urban areas. In contrast, the countryside is usually not known for exceptional educational facilities. Thus, as far as education is concerned, it is more advantageous to live in the city than the countryside.

On the other hand, crimes have gone beyond the alarming rate in many cities. A large number of children are reported to be victimized by unscrupulous individuals in the city annually. It is no wonder why some parents opted to avoid the city when raising their children. In the countryside, however, the situation is completely the opposite. Living in rural areas means being in a place where the safety of the children is not a major concern. For instance, children can walk alone in the neighbourhood without parents thinking of them being abducted by the members of criminal syndicates. Therefore, country living gives parents a sense of security that no city can guarantee.

In conclusion, both the city and the countryside have advantages and drawbacks with regard to children's development and safety, and I suggest that they should be considered by parents when making decision where to live.
